Mrs. Ralph Wheeler (1896 — 1945)
Mrs. Helen Viola Wheeler was born on September 20, 1896, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. P.
Mears, in Pepin and grew to womanhood in the village. She graduated from the local high school in 1914 and then attended the LaCrosse normal, after graduation from
which she taught school in Madison.
She was married to Ralph Wheeler in the fall of 1923 at Madison, shortly after which time they moved to Racine where Mr. Wheeler was employed by the Wisconsin Gas and Electric Co. They had one son, Donald, who is now 17 years of age. Mr. Wheeler preceded her in death last fall.
Mrs. Wheeler died on Tuesday, Dec. .18, at the C. F. Peters home at Madison, Wis., of wounds self-inflicted. She was a member of the Methodist church and of the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are her parents, L. P. Mears of Pepin, and Mrs. Ethel Mears, two sisters, Thelma and Gladys, a brother, Claude, besides her son, Donald.
Funeral services were held on Friday, December 21st, from the Pepin Methodist Church,
the Rev. C. P. Nulton officiating-. Burial
was in Oakwood cemetery here.
