Sharon (McCormick) Kelley 1938 - 2014

On April 7th, 2014 our dear Sharon, (Lois Sharon McCormick Kelley) returned home to the arms of her Savior Jesus. Sharon was born in Independence, Missouri on August 2,1938 to Jay and Lorene McCormick, the third of five children. She attended Chrisman High School, where she enjoyed leading the cheer-leading squad and building life-long friendships.

Sharon attended Graceland College, where she met the love of her life, Dan B. Kelley. The two were married in 1958 and moved to Stillwater, OK where she graduated from Oklahoma State University with a teaching degree. The couple started a family soon after, and enjoyed every minute of raising their two daughters.

After sojourns in Denver and Omaha, the family settled in Houston, Texas. Sharon was the essence of a Southern lady. She loved cooking and taking care of her family. She was active in her church, civic life and in many charities. Sharon took great delight in entertaining and was an amazing hostess. In 1988, Sharon and Dan moved to Mandeville, Louisiana. where they made many wonderful friends, were active in church and loved singing in the choir. She loved hosting visiting friends and family and introducing them to the beauty of Southern Louisiana. Her family and friends were the joy of her life.

Sharon was the essence of graciousness, kindness and warmth. She radiated love and enthusiasm for life. She was never without an opinion; she made us laugh; and she loved to make things beautiful. She will be greatly missed by her family, beloved husband, Dan Kelley (Mandeville, Louisiana), daughters and sons in law, Art and Dana Neville (Fair Oaks, California) and Jimmie and Lori Day (Houston, Texas), her grandchildren, Patrick and Laura Neville, Hayley and Carter Day, as well as her sisters and brother, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends. We will be forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support given to our family during these last two years of this difficult illness. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to two of Sharon's favorite charities, Wounded Warriors or Campus Crusade for Christ.

A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2014, 2:00 PM at Grace Presbyterian Church (Houston, Texas) and at New Covenant Presbyterian Church (Mandeville, Louisiana) Monday, April 21, 2014, 2:00 PM.
