Rolly Don "Bill" Horner
September 19, 1936 - April 21, 2016

Rolly Don "Bill" Horner, 79, Kearney, Missouri, passed away May 21, 2016. He was born in Independence, Missouri.

Bill was retired from Claycomo Ford, where he worked as a supervisor. His friendly "Hi" and warm personality won him many friends.

He was a member of the Highlands Community of Christ.

Bill had been very athletic in his earlier years, winning letters in high school for several sports.

He enjoyed hunting, intarsia woodworking, and loved to tell stories of his childhood. His life was focused as a servant of God. He devoted time to the Spinabifida Camp in Excelsior Springs, the Center of Hope, and was an active volunteer for church activities.

He had been a Shriner and had served in the US Army. Bill loved to spend time with his family and had a passion in his last days feeding his "livestock", (birds in the backyard).

He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas William Horner. Survivors include his wife, Norma of the home; his canine companion, Buddy; son, Donald "Butch" Horner of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; daughters, Janine Horner of Springfield, Missouri, and Heather Horner of Lee's Summit, Missouri; step-son, Frank Cummins of Oak Grove, Missouri; step-daughters, Tammy Grosserode and Sarah (Lee) Moore of Liberty, Missouri; brother, Gary (Joan) Horner of Belton, Missouri; sister, Barbara Behymer of Independence, Missouri; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. 

A visitation is planned from 6:30- 8:00p.m., Friday, June 3, 2016 at the funeral home. A celebration of his life will be at 10:00a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Highlands Community of Christ, 7615 N. Platte Purchase Drive, Kansas City, Missouri 64118.

Burial in the Glenridge Cemetery, Liberty, Missouri. Military Honors to be rendered.
