Larry G. Ferguson 1938 - 2023

Larry G. Ferguson was born November 3, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri to George Myron Ferguson and Mary Pearl (Lewis) Ferguson. He passed away at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri on July 13, 2023, with his family by his side.

Larry graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence. He married his high school sweetheart Ruth Ann Byler and to this union two daughters were born: Kelly and Angie. Larry enjoyed spending time at Ruth Ann’s grandfathers place at Lupus, Missouri, very close to the Missouri River. Larry met his current wife Kay of 38 years at Continental Steel and Conveyor in Kansas City where they both worked.

Larry loved his country music and played a fender guitar and pedal steel during his high school years. He became a union laborer with his father after high school and went into Ironworkers Local #10 in 1959. In 1982 he was voted on the E Board with the ironworkers and became one of their business agents in 1984. He retired in 1995 and moved to Osceola. His stepson, Fran is also an ironworker.

Larry and his wife were both avid hunters and fisherman. You never saw one without the other. Larry was a registered trap shooter for many years. He spent most of his retired life hunting and fishing. He loved his hunting dogs and even took them along hunting mushrooms. Taking care of his farm was his next way of spending time.

Larry is survived by his wife Kay of Osceola, his daughter Angie (Chris) Gentile of Cleveland, Missouri, his stepson Fran Rose (Marticha) of Hamilton, Missouri his sister Sharon Hessefort and his brother Randy. He has seven grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Ruth Ann, and his daughter Kelly.

Anyone that really knew Larry knows he lived and passed the same way-his way. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
